Help send supplies to children who are medically complex impacted by Hurricane Harvey

For the most up-to-date information on Harvey relief efforts, please visit Protect TX Fragile Kids.

As I’m sure you’ve heard, portions of Texas have been devastated by flooding from Hurricane Harvey.  As parents of children with complex medical needs, this terrifies us; we know first-hand how crucial medical supplies are to keeping our children alive and safe, and relief organizations are often ill-equipped to handle specialized medical needs.

Last year, when Louisiana was devastated by flooding, medical supply companies were incapacitated.  Children with complex medical needs were at increased risk for illness and infection due to the compromised air quality as a result of the toxic flood waters.  A year ago, before Little Lobbyists existed, many of the families who are now part of Little Lobbyists banded together, collected pediatric medical supplies, rented a U-Haul and drove them down to Louisiana, where they were distributed by the Trach Mommas of Louisiana to local families with children who had lost all their medical supplies in the flooding.

This year, Little Lobbyists are partnering up with Trach Mommas of Louisiana, Protect TX Fragile Kids, The Parker Lee Project, Advocates for Medically Fragile Kids NC, and Moms of Trach Babies to help out our friends in Texas.  We need to move quickly.  We are collecting pediatric medical supplies and are connecting with local families and organizations in and around the Houston area so that supplies can be distributed to the children who need them.

How you can help:  Donate medical supplies or funds!

UPDATE:  We are no longer accepting medical supplies at this time.  For the most up-to-date information, please visit Protect TX Fragile Kids.

If you have questions, please visit Protect TX Fragile Kids, or email us at contact@littlelobbyists.org and we will direct your question to the appropriate individual.

I am outside baton rouge la.

  11. Small donation, use where most needed – mailing or to purchase supplies. And of course prayers, for those impacted by the floods, and those stepping up to help organize and get the supplies down to them. You all are awesome!

  12. Do you have any where in North East Ohio that I could drop off some formula? My grand-daughter was switched from Elecare Jr Vanilla to Pediasure. I have about 8 boxes of 6 cans. It would cost to much for me to ship.

    1. Hi Jane, unfortunately we don’t have an Ohio location at this time. Thank you for your offer, though!

    2. Jane, let’s meet up here in NEO. I would be happy to include you items in the shipment I am going to send.

Michelle, if Jane is interested please share my email with her.

  13. Do you have a list of supplies that would be helpful? I have items, but want to send stuff that would be useful.

    1. Hi Trista, right now as the situation is somewhat fluid, we don’t have a concrete list, but the need is huge. Because we are partnering with organizations such as The Parker Lee Project, supplies will most definitely be used. In the coming days we’ll have a better sense of what the most urgent need is.

    1. Hi Amber, at this point we don’t have a drop-off location in Colorado. However, if you have the means to ship, supplies can be sent to the Parker Lee Project at the address in the post above.

  14. I have a crap load of unopened not expired complete formula. my daughter cannot tolerate it. I’m in Utah. Anyone from here going down.

    1. Hi Holly, we do not have anyone from Utah going down at this point. If that changes, we’ll be sure to include updates in the above post. Thanks!

  15. I have formula, gtube supplies, small prevail diapers and friends with medical suppies. We live in California. Where can we five the supplies to so you will get them in Texas? I also have nebulizer medicines if you need them.

    1. Hi Randa, that would be great! As long as it is unopened and unexpired, we can take it. The only exception is prescription medications, which we cannot accept. You may send supplies to:
      The Parker Lee Project
      ATTN: Harvey supplies
      1810 S Kaufman St #204
      Ennis, TX 75119

  16. Thank you for organizing this. Just curious as to what your biggest need is at this time. I will spread the word around.

    1. Hi Kelly, that would be great! Financial donations are, of course, always useful. Specialized pediatric medical supplies are critical. At this point, because the situation is fluid, we don’t have a prioritized list, but the need is high. Air purifiers are also useful. There will also be a need for equipment such as suction machines, oxygen concentrators, nebulizers, etc. If you share, be sure to include the link to this page, as we will continue to update it as the situation changes. Thank you!!

        1. At this point, no, we don’t have a NJ drop-off and I haven’t heard from any other NJ families planning to go down.

          1. Hi, Kristy — I’m working on getting a collection site up and running in or around Philadelphia, and then plan to organize transport for whatever we collect to TX. Are you able to get the concentrator to Philly?

        2. Hi, Kristi – I am working on coordinating a drop off location in/around Philadelphia, and ultimately plan on organizing a way of getting everything we’ve collected to TX. Could you get the concentrator to Philly?

        3. Hi, Kristy — I’m working on getting a collection site up and running in or around Philadelphia, and then plan to organize transport for whatever we collect to TX. Are you able to get the concentrator to Philly?

    1. Hi Brandi, thanks for your offer to help! At this point, we don’t have a drop-off location in Florida, but if that changes, we’ll update this post.

  17. I have supplies that I would love to donate, will you be able to accept unopened formula like Neocate Infant? I will also be sending some enteral tube feeding supplies 🙂

    1. Hi Krista, yes, we can certainly use the formula as long as it hasn’t expired. And enteral feeding supplies are also much needed. Thank you!

    1. Hi Barry, That’s a generous offer! We are not able to accept that as our focus is on medical supplies, however I am sure that it is a much-needed resource in TX.

  18. Myself and a couple friends are willing to call around to medical offices and collect supplies in the Southwest Austin area but my experience with medical terms and supply names is limited. I want to help! Please list a few things I can ask for by name to be donated…. gloves, masks, baby formula, ??? Thank you!

    1. Medical supplies, unopened, unexpired and unused. Items such as trach supplies, feeding tube supplies, cath supplies, diabetic supplies, gauze, syringes, sterile water, saline and lubricant. General supplies for children, such as diapers, wipes, chux, hand sanitizer and formula. This is a generic, limited list and is not all inclusive. We are also collecting medical equipment, such as food pumps, suction machines, vents, humidifiers, etc., that are in good working order and has included chargers.

  19. I have a lot of cpap supplies, do u need them? Also I have nebulizer supplies also. Do you need them also?

  20. Do they need neubulizer supplies? Also my daughter out grew her sleep apnea. Do u need those supplies as well??

    1. Yes, we can use nebulizer supplies. (We cannot, however, accept prescription nebulizer medications.)

  21. Hello,
Is there a listing of med supplies that are needed? We have a variety of things that are no longer needed by our child.
Thanks!….and thanks for what you are doing.

  24. Hello,

I have some Enterlite feeding bags and a TON of Liquid Hope (organic whips foods feeding tube formula). I’m located in the Cleveland, Ohio area. If there are no collection sites nearby, I would be willing to ship. Do you need the Liquid Hope?

    Prayers for everyone in Texas!

    Susie Coy

      1. Is there a preference for shipping or can I just ship UPS? Going to try and get it out today or tomorrow.

  25. I live in Corpus Christi and would like to donate 15 packs of 24 diapers attends extra small/youth diapers 20-30 in waist. I would like to donate locally. Thank you!

    1. Hi Sherry, did you fill out the form above? We’re using that to coordinate locations in Texas. Thank you!

  26. Is there any way you can PICK UP SUPPLIES in KNOXVILLE, TN on your way from DC to Texas?
2 families here (working on more families) have formula for feeding tube, Ace bandages

    1. Hi Sheryl, right now I don’t think we’ll be able to stop in Knoxville. We will be going through North Carolina, but we haven’t finalized the route yet. There are a number of families in NC who are collecting supplies (link added this evening). Perhaps it would be possible to coordinate with them?

  27. Is there any word yet on when or if you will have a pickup location in the Rio Grand Valley? I have many diapers and other supplies I would like to donate

    1. Hi Diana, did you fill out the form? We’re working on getting locations set up and will be reaching out via the list we’ve developed from those we have from those who filled out the form.

      1. Yes I did fill out the form. Thanks for the reply. I have also spread the word around to other parents so I’m hoping we have a good amount for y’all to pick up here. Please let me know if there is more I can do to help.

    1. Hi Brittany. We can take unopened, unused medical supplies for sure. Definitely nebulizer tubing, etc. Anything that is a prescription medication, however, we are not able to take. Thank you!

  28. How can I send supplies … please let me know I am willing to send supplies immediately once I have an address asap please

    1. Hi Jose. Thank you! You can send supplies either to Trach Mommas of Louisiana or to The Parker Lee Project. Mailing addresses for both are in the post above. Thanks!

  29. Can I send supplies directly from Amazon if I don’t have any medical supplies or would a financial donation be more prudent?

    1. You can ship from Amazon if you’d prefer. Financial donations will certainly be put to good use, too.

  30. About a month ago, Doug from McMain’s Children Dev Center in Baton Rouge, LA called me because they had a large donation of diaper. They were not the size my kiddo wears so I turned them down. He may still have some of these available. I will try to work on this but I have a sick child right now so it makes calls/trips hard to do.

I will donate some tube feeding supplies (hopefully a grown out of Mickey, too, if not expired) directly to the Louisiana office asap.

  31. I live in Tacoma, Washington. My son was decannulated and weening of the Gtube so I have lots of over stock, never been opened. I do not have the financial means to ship the supplies myself. Is there another way I could donate our supplies?

    1. Thank you for your interest in helping! We don’t have a Washington drop-off. But hang on to the extra supplies–I’m sure something like this will come up again!

  32. My 2 year old has cystic fibrosis. I have some nebulizer tubing and 2 medium sized manual percussors. I also have 1 pari pediatric fish mask for a nebulizer still in the bag. Would those be ok to send? I believe I also have a box of medela microwave sanitizer bags that I use for steralizing nebulizer parts if that would be useful. (it obviously takes a microwave to use) I wish you could take prescriptions. I have almost a months worth of pertzye 8,000’s because my son didn’t do well with them.

  33. By unopened and unused, does that mean the entire box must be unopened, or can the box be partially used with a package within unused? Also, what about prescribed unused liquid medicines?

    1. Hi Reba. As long as the package within is unused and unopened, it’s okay. We cannot take prescription medications. Thanks!

  34. I have boxes and boxes of unused mepilex and mepilex lite, in addition to boxes of unopened 60mL syringes and feeding bags for the infinity pump system. Should I mail these to the Parker Lee Project? I’m in MN.

  35. I’ll be sending a box to Parker Lee Project, but wondering if Vivonex and Tolerex are things that can be used?

  36. Hi, do you know when you will be distributing in the Houston area? Do we need a large vehicle to help with that piece of it? Do you know when you will be sorting at the Pearland location?

    1. Hi Kelley! Have you filled out the TX volunteer form on the website? That will help with the planning. Thank you!

  37. I am a member of a nursing honor society in a nursing program at a local college in Dallas. We are holding an on campus donation drive from 10/2-10/13 to collect formula, diapers, alcohol prep pads, diapers and 2×2/4×4. It took some time for us to get approval through the campus so I am wondering if you are still collecting donations for hurricane victims at the Frisco, TX site?
